The interest in separating and concentrating bioactives minerals from seaweeds extracts is growing due to large health benefits of these substances. aim this study was investigate the separation components Fucus vesiculosus seaweed by tangential ultrafiltration apply Hermia’s models adapted crossflow understand fouling mechanism. influence membrane cut-off varying 5 150 kDa, velocity 0.081 0.095 m/s transmembrane pressure between 2 8 bar studied. present revealed that membranes process successful clarifying still delivering permeates with a high content iodine. Clarification almost completely achieved kDa polyethersulfone membrane, while hydrophilic not adequate retention Cake layer formation mathematical model successfully used predict permeate flux over time. There evidence cake mechanism filtration extracts, whatever or pressure, probably alginates.
